Covid Vaccinations

19th April 2024 · 2'

The Covid-19 vaccines are overwhelmingly effective, as they reduce the risk of hospitalization and death by 95%. This is positive news everywhere especially regarding a pandemic that forced us to change how we have been living. The vaccines give us a lease of hope and reassure us that it is not all gloom and doom. They are also incredibly safe—severe side effects are exceptionally rare.

When are you regarded as fully vaccinated?

When you start taking the vaccine you will be considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, or 2 weeks after a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.

You should keep using all the tools available to protect yourself and others until you are fully vaccinated.

There are a great deal of myths being spread about the vaccines. However they lack supporting facts, the vaccines have been tested and developed scientifically over time.

If you’re unsure whether the vaccine is right for you, please see the benefits of getting vaccinated below:

  • They are safe as they have been developed scientifically. They are not experimental; and have gone through all the required stages of clinical trials. Extensive testing and monitoring have shown they are safe and effective.
  • They are effective as they can keep you from getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19.
  • They also help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19.
  • They help you protect people around you, especially the high risk individuals who may be around you.

In case you wish to get vaccinated, please visit the Westlands Health Center between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
